Journalism in the 21st-century continues to face many threats that jeopardize its delivery of an open and democratic society. There are constant barriers to freedom of expression and information, media freedom, and lack of protection of journalists’ sources. It’s against this backdrop that a guideline was developed to prepare funders of human rights, social justice or transparency and accountability with better understanding to effectively and ethically engage in the journalism and media field.
