Early 2018, the Transparency and Accountability Initiative, the International Budget Partnership, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace initiated the Fiscal Futures project, inviting 35 fiscal transparency and accountability (T/A) advocates, practitioners, scholars, and funders to collectively imagine fiscal futures in 2040. From the meeting, four plausible stories of the future were generated which in turn pointed back to gaps in current strategies as well as to possibilities for new connections within and beyond the public finance field regardless of country or sector.
