Mentors’ Lessons: “Winning Friends and Influencing Government”

TABridge mentor Sarah Schacht describes helping Directorio Legislativo develop new approaches to opening up senate data in Argentina. Though policy advocates must sometimes rely on complaints and formal filings to secure data from governments, with guidance from Sarah, the organization began reaching out directly—and informally—to IT managers in congress. The results of this “winning friends” tactic were surprising, and surprisingly fast.
