Data vs Corruption: Exploring Barriers to Data Use in Nigeria

Finding ways to strengthen the use of disclosed information is a shared priority for TAI’s six donor members. Determined to move beyond generalities, TAI members embarked on a deep dive exploring the barriers to data use in a specific country and sectoral contexts, with an eye to insights of broader relevance. We’re excited to share headline findings from the first of those in-country explorations focused on the use of anti-corruption data in Nigeria in our Data vs. Corruption brief. In it, we distill the knowledge and experience of approximately 50 Nigerian CSOs, journalists, government officials, and experts on what the barriers are to harnessing data to fight corruption are, and equally important, what are some of the opportunities to overcome them. #data4accountability
